Rebecca showing off her weaving from our study on Marco Polo. We used this great book. http://www.amazon.com/Marco-Polo-Kids-Marvelous-Activities/dp/1556523777/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225635327&sr=8-1

The King Family Castle.....Elizabeth designed this castle based on the castle in this book.
The kids watched the David McCauley castle video at our Unit Celebration.

Johnathon's version of illuminated letters. Very cool. And he was kind enough to lend us the Toby Mac concert DVD to watch, which makes him our favorite Jesus Freak.

Emily's water lapbook....she did such a nice job!

Joshua's display board must have taken so many hours! His artwork was stunning and his writing was well-crafted and interesting. I can't wait to see what he does on the Renaissance!

The Millers enjoying the feast!

The Knights feasting!

Tammy and Elizabeth loading up at Medieval buffet. I forget, did they have Wheat Thins and Sweet Tea back then?

Feasting kiddos

The Knights do battle! I love Theo's milk carton knight helmet!
Notice the TV screen.....they were undoubtably discussing the beating the Dawgs took at the hand of those slimy Gators. That was the only dismal thing about the evening.

Lilly Grace as a medieval princess. I ran to Target the morning after Halloween and took advantage of the deep discount on knight and princess costumes. What excellent timing!

The Black Knight.........Luke in a rare costume appearance.
We had a great time at our Unit Celebration. The kids had fun showing off their hard work, and all the grown-ups had fun eating! Our jousting with pool noodles would have worked better if we could have got the water balloons to burst, but they had fun pretending the ballons were diseased animals they were lobbing over the castle walls, so all was not lost!
We had a really busy week, and have two birthdays coming up. I really did not want to go to the effort of doing the Unit Celebration. My new friend Jenny convinced me that it didn't have to be a big deal, and that we could all pitch in. She was right. It was easy, with mostly store bought food. The kids had a great time, and feel like the unit came to close on a good note. They really do look forward to showing their work, and it makes them put more effort into things if they know that other people will get to see it. I was happy to walk outside and hear the kids playing a made up game of Medieval Jeopardy. Listening to their questions and answers made me feel like they really WERE listening! Yay! Job well done, Jenny, Marianna, Vicki, and Tammy! Your kids clearly learned a lot in the last 10 weeks.

I couldn't help but sneak a peek at your blog from Marianna's. You all are so creative! Love the castle; we'll may have to sneak another peek at yours and at your book recommendation when we begin studying knights.
